It’s an odd looking word, “firsts”. One little vowel there among a fricative, and a plosive sandwiched between two sibilants. I always feel for people trying to learn English when I come across words like this; so simple to us, but difficult to get your tongue around. This, of course, has nothing to do with the post today. It is just something that ran through my head as I was looking for a title photo. Ha!

We had a few firsts this week. Thought I’d share. Here is our first of the firsts. πŸ™‚ You are looking at our piece of genuine “fan art”. This was drawn on an envelope to label it for me. “Wing and Prayer” I thought it was the cutest thing. Wow! Our first fan art!

Our second first, is actually our third, but I want our second to be our last. so what I’m showing you is the set up for the Cornish meat birds to have their first sojourn outside. They have their own private entry/exit to the lower brooder. And the biggies can’t get antagonize them too much. Unfortunately, the little meat birds were not at all interested in going out on their first foray into the big wide world. All that space is a bit off putting to little birds. Maybe in a few days.

OK! Here is our final first for today. First swims! The water babies went for their very first swim Saturday. They were initially a bit scared, but we only put enough water in for them to splash around in. They could still touch if they wanted to. It took them a few minutes to get acclimated, but then they really got into it. We added some shredded zucchini to the water and the ducklings had fun chasing it around and eating it up. So, this concludes our few firsts. I bet you can see why I wanted to save this one for last. I am sure that we will have more and when that happens, we will definitely share. Until then, as always~
