Ok, just a quick update on a couple of things. Wanted to share a photo of Squeaker, now livin’ large with the white birds. Squeaker is the fuzzy one, top center photo. She seems to be doing quite well with her new little flock-mates. We think she was welcomed so easily because she is the same color. You know what they say about birds of a feather.

The other update is that Sue is done with the meat bird’s tractor. It’s ready and able to take on birds, but I’m not sure when we’ll be putting them out there. There is still some concern about the mountain lions, and we haven’t hear from our neighbor, Tom, as to how the tracker made out with chasing them away. We’ll just see how that goes, but as you can see from the photo above, the meat birds are happy with their current digs.

Finally, not so much an update – more of an ah-ha moment. Where have all the Banty eggs gone? We were getting six or more a day… what happened? Well, truth be told, Roma started laying in the green chicken house. The green chicken house was Banty territory. I must say, there weren’t any chicken/goose gang wars; however, there was a turf take-over. Roma kicked the banties out – so, again, where are the eggs? Bob and Sweet Pea found them the other day. Under some boards in the resource pile. There ya go. Proof positive in a photo. Our thinking is that when Roma is in the green house, the little banty hens slip under the fence and lay in this quiet area. Now they are… b u s t e d!

That’s it for tonight every one. Ok, one more thing… the last three days the chickens have laid 44 eggs. Not the same from each of our categories, but the same total number of chicken eggs. That’s just fun info. Any other fun info, and we’ll share it with you. Until then, as always~
Thanks for reading.
