Where do you live? Did you have a cold snap recently? I know that a friend who lives in Taos had snow last night. We had one last night, got down to 28°!!! Amazing!

This was the worst of our damage, Bella Donna bush underneath the Almond Tree. It didn’t make it through the freeze, but I’m sure it’ll leave some seeds that will germinate next year. Luckily, we covered most of the tender things. I’m still not sure our youngest squash plant will make it and we may have lost the eggplant. And, for some odd reason, the cold hardy plants – broccoli, cabbage, and kale – took a hit too.

It was still cold all day… everyone was happy to curl up with a blanket and listen to Sue play the piano. These types of days I just want to curl up on the couch with a good cup of tea and a book.

However, there is work and a few chores and some up coming events that needed tending to.

In a couple of days, we’ll be receiving 25 little chicks to help beef up the egg laying broods. Sue ordered Buff Orpingtons because they are a breed that is supposed to continue to lay through the winter, plus our experience has been that they do fine with the heat. We’ll be sure to share a couple of photos with you – I know we do that almost every time, but they are just so dang cute!!! Everyone needs a bit more cuteness in their lives! Until then, as always~
