Yep! we have more as of today! 21 new Cornish meat birds. They are always so cute when they are babies. The first batch that came before Easter are growing up a bit. They may not be ready for processing in 6 weeks, maybe around 7 or 8 weeks. They are a bit smaller than the Cornish Cross from last year.

We are very bird rich right at the moment. The ducks and geese had to move to make room for the littles that came today. Sue made this new brooder for them to have all to themselves. It’s a huge storage container that Sue modified to hold the water babies and give them enough air, yet keep them quite nice and warm. Works great!

Sue says they really like it! And all photographic evidence supports her conclusion. AND the chickens like to visit them. It’s pretty cute. Also, Roma and Octave have seen the babies now and have been pretty protective when the others get too close. Nobody can get to them, but they have very good protectors!

I guess that’s all the news for now. The little new puff balls are all doing well, nobody drooping or anything. So, they seem to have made it through their shipping ordeal quite well. We will keep our eyes on them and let you know how they fare. Until then, as always~
