So this is just another short post. I’ve been in a class all day and now Sue is out a Huachuca UMC, playing for their evening service. I just wanted to do a quick update to show a few things that have been happening.
Yesterday Sue and Trent worked on the MFD. They laid down the landscapers cloth. Sue moved the rock pile from near the gate to inside the run using the tractor. Then Trent moved the rocks into the trenches. They are starting to fill up nicely. I think that they ran out of the landscapers cloth though, and Sue is going to purchase some more before Trent comes back again on Wednesday.
Another little item that I don’t think I reported on was Sue’s addition to the coop’s nesting boxes. Every time Sue puts new straw in the nesting boxes, it gets all shoved out as they get in there and redecorate prior to laying. The solution? Add higher thresholds. There were small lips on the boxes, but not enough, I guess, to withstand the amount of redistribution wrought by many hens. Here are the results (with their Christmas curtains still doing privacy service). They’ve been working well, as far as I can tell. We’ll see how it goes over a longer period of time. Always something with those chickens.
I’m not even sure what we’ve got going on next week. I’m still trying to get things caught up at different jobs. Sue’s going gang busters… I’ll just try to keep up. Until then, as always~

Today’s Weather: We’ve had a system moving in for a couple of days now. We know it’s getting closer because the wind is picking up and our heads – well, most of our bodies actually – are killing us. Our high today was 73°, but the wind kept it feeling cold. Currently, at 7:55 p.m., it is 61°, with winds out of the SW at 8 mph, but gusting upwards of 23 mph. Our overnight low is predicted to be 44°. Sunrise was at 6:46, sunset was at 6:19.
Egg Report: Well – we continue to get them, I just don’t have numbers right now.
