Autumn arrived in the Sky Islands today! I know the Autumnal Equinox was yesterday, but we had our first Fall day today. I saw somewhere that we had 2.6 inches of rain! That was a good rain for us. We had/have a flash flood warning for today, until 8pm, but it looks like most of the rain is over for tonight. This photo was taken during dusk this evening looking to the South East, what I usually term “down Mexico way”. You can see the remnants of our storm, but it is starting to clear up for the evening. autumnal eats

When I flew in to San Diego, my friends Ray and Tony picked me up at the airport and took me to my folks’. Mom wasn’t in any shape to be driving around and Dad needed to stay with her. So I had the opportunity to visit with my besties, eat lunch at
Here we are, just having processed a batch of chickens and now getting a new little batch again. This time not to eat, though. Well, let me think about that statement. There may be a bit of non-truth to that. What do I mean?
If you call something “untitled” isn’t that giving it a title? So, should I really just call this “titled”? These are the strange things go through my mind on occasion. Maybe it would be better if I just gave it a title… nah. Besides, I found this great logo that I’m borrowing from the “
…chicken dinner! Ok, maybe not. Or maybe in a round about way it will be a chicken dinner. That sounds a little bit morbid, I guess. What in the heck am I talking about anyway??? I thought I had written a blog post about this, but I couldn’t find one when I went back to look. So, let’s start at the beginning.
Did you ever watch Sesame Street? I loved The Count. I hated math later on, but I like The Count. As an adult, when you watch these kids shows, funny questions always creep up on you. Like, how hard was it for The Count to work in a base 10 numbering system, when he only had 8 fingers. Did he have to re-learn all his mathematics? I was half remembering the pose in this photo for the number 5, but that wouldn’t work – would it? Well, be that as it may – The Count, here, is our mascot for today because we are going to tally some things around here. The magic number is 7. Ready?
Sometimes it just never stops! Ever have those days, when you think you’ve taken care of an issue and it just keeps cropping back up. It might not look exactly the same, but – in essence – same issue. We had some of that today. Then we had a little bit of a new take on the issue. AND we had a pretty silly thing happen. I’ve gotten a pretty late start, so this will be a really quick post.
So, hey – we’ve got things going on. We’ve got a freezer full of veggie-sicles for the chickens. We’ve got watering going on because the trees are hot and dry. We’ve got a clean house because the keeper was here today (yay!). We’ve got the old cabbages cleared out and fed to the chickens making room for some new plantings. We’ve got chicken pies in the oven getting cooked for dinner. What’s next on our list of happenings?
So, you know, there have been some changes around here. Changes in jobs, for both of us; changes in schedules. To help with the scheduling – blog days are now going to be on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. I get home too late Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays and this will allow a bit more time to share stuff. Stuff, that’s a technical word.
