We live in the U.S., so of course this is a U.S.-centric blog. I use Fahrenheit as opposed to Celsius when I’m talking about weather temp in degrees, I use feet and inches, rather than metrics, I refer to the U.S. calendar when I’m talking about seasons and holidays. So, I hope that doesn’t offend anyone too awfully, but if you’re reading this blog, you’ll just have to put up with it I suppose. The reason I bring this up, is that tomorrow is Thanksgiving Day in the U.S. and I think I’ll probably be talking about thankfulness today. Continue reading

Over the weekend and this morning, we did end up accomplishing all the weekend goals we set for ourselves. Sometimes that doesn’t happen because, once we get into whatever task we’ve started, we find that it’s more involved than initially thought. Those tasks that we do regularly, we generally have an idea how long it takes, but sometimes there ends up being a monkey wrench in the works. Luckily we didn’t experience that… well, not much anyway.
I cannot believe we are halfway through November. I can’t believe that we’re less than a week from Thanksgiving (US). This year has completely flown by and it feels just unreal to me. So many things have been going on, I guess it just makes the time go by so quickly. Seems like last week was January, and here we are almost to Christmas! There are some other things I can’t believe as well…
I keep saying that there’s not a lot of big projects going on; maintenance, maintenance, maintenance; and not much happening, but you know that there are always small things happening every single day. Sometimes it’s just difficult to make those small things into an interesting post – but I did say that I’d talk about what’s been happening around the farm, so let’s do that. There are good things happening in small packages, and a couple sad things as well.
Got home this morning around 11:30. Travel is always fun, but also tiring. You want to see everyone and spend quality time, but that time always seems to go so fast. I specifically went to California to see Rhiann’s (my niece) debut as Sister Bertha in “Getting to Know the Sound of Music”. Basically, the shorter version for youth theater. It was really quite good! But I also wanted to visit family and friends as much as possible. Three days went by quickly (I don’t count the travel days), and saw me take in the food at
So, I’m on travel this weekend. Can you guess where I am??? This was taken yesterday at lunch. Point Loma Seafoods in Point Loma San Diego. It was a gorgeous day. No wind and around 78°. Lovely. It felt so good to have some air with a bit of moisture in it. Then we went up to Ramona, where my folks live. The weather there is almost exactly the same as at home. Today, at 3:30 p.m., it is 75° in Ramona and windy from Santa Ana. At home the high was 72° with winds most of the day. Both in Ramona and at home the winds are dying down. Kind of interesting to me that the weather is so similar at this time of year.
Wednesday = short post day. Not a whole lot going on that’s exceptionally interesting, but we have some things that have happened to note today and some plans to start making improvements. Change; the only constant.
As with every season, there are things we like and things that aren’t our most favorite, in regards to Fall. If you spend any time on Social Media, you know that there are memes galore extolling the virtues of all things pumpkin spice. I am here to tell you – I don’t necessarily buy into that craze. I don’t like pumpkin spice lattes, nor pumpkin spice English muffins, nor pumpkin spice cheese cake. On the other hand, I have always enjoyed pumpkin bread, pumpkin pancakes (a Halloween tradition in my family), and cold pumpkin pie for breakfast. Recently, I added
I’m not exactly sure why, but the week has just seemed to drag along. I think we’re both happy it is finally Friday. Somewhere this week, I picked up a cold – I think Sue may have one too. We’ve just been not quite up to par lately. Also, I’ve been having to spend more time at work lately, and Sue has been having to do everything by herself. I mostly have made it home in time to help with the putting to bed, but that’s not a lot.
“When hinges creak in doorless chambers, and strange and frightening sounds echo through the halls. Whenever candle lights flicker where the air is deathly still — that is the time when ghosts are present, practicing their terror with ghoulish delight!” That is the beginning narration in Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion ride; did you recognize it? It wasn’t until I was in my 30’s that I started being able to go through the ride with my eyes open… I still have difficulties – it’s scary! Well, we don’t have much cause to be scared here, unless it has to do with rattle snakes, scorpions, or some spiders -the three scary s’s – but I thought I should at least try for a Halloween themed post today. Shall we take a quick tour of the halloween farm? “There are several prominent ghosts who have retired here from creepy old crypts all over the world. Actually, we have 999 happy haunts here — but there’s room for 1,000. Any volunteers? (Bwahahahaha) If you insist on lagging behind, you may not
