If you call something “untitled” isn’t that giving it a title? So, should I really just call this “titled”? These are the strange things go through my mind on occasion. Maybe it would be better if I just gave it a title… nah. Besides, I found this great logo that I’m borrowing from the “Untitled Supper Club” in Chicago. I took a gander at their website and I’m so sorry I didn’t get a chance to check it out when I was visiting last year. Looks like they have a great three course, Prix Fixe Menu and over 550 whisky choices. Anyway, someone go there and let me know what I’ve been missing. Back to today’s post. You know how I like to do an overarching theme, linking several events together under the main title? I just don’t have that today. What I do have is a couple of photos and one event to share. Let’s get to it. Continue reading

I think sometimes Sue wonders why it takes so long for me to write these little blog posts. I think that, much of the time is spent looking for my initial photo or image. The other major part is spent researching things like, definitions; snake/insect/bird identifications; chicken diseases; and the like. Another contributing factor is that I often write while we’re watching a movie – so sometimes my attention is diverted. Today, for the initial image that goes with the title, I finally decided to steal my cousin Callie’s photo of her latest flower creation… it seemed to bring about the “slow Saturday” sort of vibe. (Thanks, Callie!) You can check out her creations at
We have been waiting for weeks and weeks! Yes, we’ve had smatterings of rain here and there, but not the all out downpour that we’re used to getting on a regular basis during Monsoon. Last night, we finally had our first downpour on the property. Not sure when it started, but by the time I arrived home around 5:30 it was in full swing and it may have been going for a bit of time. Lasted about an hour I’d guess. Stopped raining for a couple of hours and then started again around 9pm. Always nice to lie in bed and listen to the rain.
It’s been an entire week since I’ve written. What happened? Just stuff. This week seems to have been so incredibly busy. We were running here and there, getting home late, getting up early – going to bed early. Just being busy bees. We did manage to get some things done this week, amidst all the chaos.
That’s what the goats are singing, but we are – slowly but surely – thwarting their escape plans. I talked a little bit about this already; Sue purchased all the materials and we’ve already laid out the posts etc. Today we made a good start at getting it going.
That’s how I felt around 8 p.m. last night. I suppose I shouldn’t get so tired when we work on this particular aspect of the farming, but it always take a great deal out of me. I think it takes a bit out of Sue as well, but she said it is getting easier. I must confess, that it is a bit easier – I think the first time we processed, we did 7. We’ve done 15 in one day… I think that was an exceptionally long day. Yesterday was only considerably long. 🙂
OK – I don’t have any new photos for you and not much out of the ordinary is going on here, except Scooby has been regularly escaping from their dedicated space lately. Dang goat. (OK – yes the photo is a stretch, and I know that g.o.a.t. stand for “greatest of all time” but I thought it was funny to find it on a hat. If you like it, you can get it from Dang Chicks
When I postponed writing until today, I didn’t even think about it being Father’s Day; however, it is only fitting to wish all the fathers out there (especially mine!) a very happy day to you! Nothing about the rest of this post has anything to do with Fathers’ Day… shall we get to it?
Even though summer doesn’t begin until June 21st, we are heatin’ up all the same. Monday we had our first peek at monsoonal type moisture; accompanied by a rather destructive micro burst in Bisbee. Today we have rather high clouds and are a bit muggy; hopefully this is a good portend for our monsoonal season. This is a photo from the National Park Service… but it is a good example of what we will be seeing in just a matter of weeks.
